New student? Do these 3 things first

1 Set up your @siam.edu email — add a recovery phone now so you can reset your own password later. → Email guide
2 Log in to Moodle using your @siam.edu Google account. → Moodle guide
3 Install the ICOSIAM App (Android) or the official Moodle app (iPhone). → App guide

Your courses, assignments, and grades — all online

For StudentsLogging In at the Computer Lab

Why use Google login? You don't need to remember a separate Moodle password. Your university Google account (@siam.edu) works instantly — no extra setup needed.
1
Open Google Chrome & click your profile icon (top-right corner)

You will see a panel showing the currently signed-in Google accounts on this computer.

2
Click "Add another account"

The IT Lab computers may already have multiple accounts. You must add your own university email (e.g. 670S10022@siam.edu).

3
Sign in with your university Google account

Enter your full university email address, then your password on the next screen. Your email format: StudentID@siam.edu

3 wrong attempts = 24-hour account block. If you are unsure of your password, reset it first (see below).
Note: For a forgotten @siam.edu password email it-icosiam@siam.edu.

4
Go to Moodle & click "Login with Google"

This is very important. The lab computer is shared. If you do not sign out, the next student can see your Moodle account, emails, and grades.
  1. Open a new Chrome tab
  2. Click your profile icon (top-right corner)
  3. Click "Sign out of all accounts"
Signing out protects your personal data and keeps the next student safe too.

For LecturersLogging Into Moodle

Siam University account? Follow the same Google login steps above. Your @siam.edu email works exactly the same way.
Most ICOSIAM platforms (ICO Portal, ERP, and other university systems) use a username & password — not Google login. Only Moodle supports Google sign-in.

If you have a personal/external account (not @siam.edu), use the username & password form instead:

  1. Go to https://lmsico.siam.edu
  2. Enter your personal email as the username and your Moodle password
  3. Click Log In
3 wrong password attempts will lock your account for 24 hours. Use "Lost password?" before guessing.

Forgot Your Moodle Password?

You can reset it yourself in 3 minutes — no need to visit the IT office.
1
Click "Lost password?" on the Moodle login page

You will see the password reset search form.

2
Enter your username or email address, then click Search

Use your personal email (the one registered with Moodle).

Search by username or email
3
Check your email inbox for a reset link from Moodle

The link is valid for 30 minutes. Check your spam / junk folder if you don't see it.

Moodle Best Practices — Don't Miss These

Always confirm your assignment submission

After submitting, Moodle shows a green confirmation banner and your submission status changes to "Submitted for grading". If you see "Draft (not submitted)", click Submit Assignment again.

Screenshot your confirmation. This is your proof if there is ever a dispute.
Enable Moodle email notifications

Go to Moodle → Profile (top-right) → Preferences → Notification preferences. Turn on email alerts for:

  • Assignment due date reminders
  • Forum posts from lecturers
  • Grade released notifications

Moodle sends these to your @siam.edu email. Check it regularly.

Never save your password in a lab browser

When Chrome asks "Save password?" on a lab computer — always click Never.

If you accidentally saved it: Settings → Autofill → Passwords → find Moodle → delete it.
Submit at least 30 minutes before deadline

Moodle locks submissions exactly at the deadline. Leave a buffer for upload speed and file-size limits.

  • Max upload size: usually 20 MB per file — compress large PDFs
  • Once submitted past the deadline, you cannot edit or resubmit

ICOSIAM Mobile App

Your school in your pocket — Android & iPhone

Why do I need the app?

On Android phones, logging into Moodle and university systems using Gmail in a regular browser is blocked. The ICOSIAM app fixes this with a native wrapper that handles authentication properly.

With the app: no login problems, everything works.

Android App — Best Practices
  • Keep the app updated — open Google Play → My apps → update ICOSIAM. Old versions may lose login access after server updates.
  • If login fails after an update: Go to Settings → Apps → ICOSIAM → Storage → Clear Cache (not "Clear Data"), then reopen the app.
  • Don't clear app data unless IT tells you to — it resets all saved sessions.
  • Notifications: Allow notifications when prompted so you receive Moodle announcements and deadline reminders.
iPhone Users — How to Access Moodle
The ICOSIAM custom app is Android-only for now. On iPhone, use the official Moodle mobile app from the App Store.
Option 1 — Official Moodle App (Recommended)
  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone
  2. Search for "Moodle" and install the official app (blue icon by Moodle Pty Ltd)
  3. Open the app → tap "Enter your site URL"
  4. Type: lmsico.siam.edu and tap Connect
  5. Tap "Login with Google" → sign in with your @siam.edu account
Full Moodle access with push notifications on iPhone.
Option 2 — Safari Browser
  1. Open Safari (not Chrome — Google login works better in Safari on iPhone)
  2. Go to lmsico.siam.edu
  3. Tap "Login with Google" → sign in with your @siam.edu account
Use Safari, not Chrome on iPhone — Google login in Chrome on iOS is sometimes blocked.

University Email

Your official @siam.edu email — powered by Google Workspace

Why it matters: Your university email is your identity for Moodle, the ICO Portal, Microsoft 365, and all official university communications. Keep it secure.

  3. Sign in with YourID@siam.edu
On Your Phone (Android)

1
Go to myaccount.google.com

Sign in with your @siam.edu account first.

2
Click "Personal info" → then "Phone"

Add your personal mobile number here.

3
Also click "Security & sign-in"

Add a Recovery phone and Recovery email (your personal email). This is your backup access route.

4
Add your personal email as recovery email

Two recovery methods = twice the protection.

Google Account Personal Info — click Phone Recovery phone and recovery email settings
Update Your Profile Picture — It Appears Everywhere
Your Google Workspace profile photo is displayed across Moodle, the ICO Portal, ERP, and all university systems. A clear photo helps lecturers and staff identify you instantly.
1
Go to myaccount.google.com

Sign in with your @siam.edu account.

2
Click your profile picture at the top of the page

A camera icon will appear — click it, or go to Personal info → Photo.

Choose a clear, front-facing photo. Crop so your face fills most of the frame.

4
Click "Save as profile photo"

Changes propagate across Moodle, ICO Portal, and ERP within minutes.

Photo tips:
  • Clear, recent photo of your face only
  • Good lighting — no dark or blurry selfies
  • No group photos, avatars, or logos
  • JPG or PNG, minimum 250 × 250 px
Google Workspace — Best Practices
Enable 2-Step Verification

Go to myaccount.google.com/security2-Step Verification → Get started. This prevents anyone from logging in even if they know your password.

Always verify you are on the right account

On lab computers, Google may auto-fill a different student's account. Check the profile icon (top-right) before doing anything in Gmail or Drive.

Use Google Drive for assignments

Upload your work to Google Drive before the deadline. Drive files are always accessible — attachments can get lost or corrupted.

Check spam — university emails often land there

Automated emails from Moodle, the ICO Portal, and the admissions system sometimes go to Spam. Check Spam before contacting IT.

Keep your @siam.edu account for academic use only. It may be deactivated after graduation.

ICO Portal / ERP System

Admissions, records, finance, and more

What you can do here: Submit and track your admission application, view your student profile, manage visa documents, register for courses, view announcements, and access student services.

How to Access

On a Computer / Browser
  1. Go to ico.siam.edu
  2. Click "Login with Google" using your @siam.edu account
  3. Or use your assigned username & password
Sessions expire after 60 minutes of inactivity. Save your work regularly.
On Your Phone (Android)
  1. Open the ICOSIAM App
  2. Tap Portals → Siam Services
  3. Tap ICO Siam Portal
  4. Log in with your student ID & password
Using the app avoids the Gmail login issue on Android.
Security: Never share your login credentials. Every action you take in the portal is recorded in a full audit trail for your protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions IT receives most often

If you added a recovery phone number earlier, go to accounts.google.com/signin/recovery and follow the prompts. If not, email it-icosiam@siam.edu with your student ID — IT will reset it for you.

On Android, Google login is blocked in the default browser. Use the ICOSIAM App (not a regular browser) or switch to a desktop computer. On iPhone, use Safari — not Chrome — for Google login to work reliably.

Yes. Magic Links expire after 15 minutes and are single-use. Contact it-icosiam@siam.edu to request a new link. Include your student ID so IT can send it quickly.

No — drafts are not graded. You must click the "Submit Assignment" button after uploading your file. When properly submitted, the status changes to "Submitted for grading" and a green banner appears. If you see "Draft", go back and submit again before the deadline.

The lock lasts 24 hours automatically. If you need access sooner, use the "Lost password?" link on the Moodle login page to reset it — see Moodle guide §1C. For a locked @siam.edu Google account, email it-icosiam@siam.edu.

Ask your lecturer for the team code. In Teams, click Teams → Join or create a team → Enter code. Once joined, scheduled class meetings appear in your Teams Calendar — click Join at the scheduled time.

The Registration Office sends the schedule by email to your @siam.edu inbox before each semester. The registration window opens in the ICO Portal — the menu item appears only during the open period. See the Registration guide for full steps.

Open Google Play → My apps → ICOSIAM and tap Update. If login still fails after updating, go to Settings → Apps → ICOSIAM → Storage → Clear Cache (not Clear Data), then reopen the app.
